Recently I was shopping in Stafford and came across this beautiful building, when I noticed the sign saying it was a museum I walked straight in as I love visiting museums and checking out old buildings, History was one of my favorite subjects at school and I have an addiction to watching the History channel on Sky.

The building is called the Ancient High House, it was free to enter but on my way out I made a donation as I like to support old buildings like this to help them stay open and I think its a great way to teach the young generation, especially locals about the history of their own town.

The house was built in 1595 and is now considered the largest timber framed town house that has survived in England from the Tudor period, royalty stayed there in 1642 when King Charles 1st was visiting the area.

There are three main levels in the museum to show the different time periods of people who lived in the house over the centuries, in the Stuart room there is a stunning four poster bed, the Civil War room shows where the Royals stayed and there was the Victorian room which was my favorite. It was great walking up the wooden staircase and entering different rooms and walking through the history of that time period.
