Pizza Base, Ingredients:
(Note: makes one 10 inch pizza)
175g Plain Flour
1 teaspoon of sea salt (or table salt)
1 teaspoon of dried yeast
Half a teaspoon of castor sugar
1 tablespoon of Olive Oil

Toppings:
Tomato Puree
Mozzarella
Vegetables: Mushrooms, Yellow Pepper, Sweetcorn, Tomatoes
(Choose any vegetables/toppings of your choice)
  • Firstly, get a bowl and sift the plain flour, add the dried yeast, sugar, salt and olive oil.
  • Mix together until it forms a non sticky dough, (if its sticky add a little more flour) leave the dough in a bowl and cover with a towel, leave it at room temperature for around an hour so the dough can double in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 180C.
  • Get some grease proof paper and line it on a tray, sprinkle some plain flour and roll the dough out with a rolling pin till you achieve the base you want. (Super thin base or a deep pan, whichever you prefer)
  • Roll up the edges of the pizza base, so you have a nice thick crust. To prevent the edges from burning you can brush the edges with olive oil.
  • Then smooth over the tomato puree and add your cheese and vegetables.
  • It should take approximately 15 minutes to cook (depending on what base you have chosen thin/thick, a thick base may need a few minutes more), but check it occasionally and take out the oven when it looks golden and the cheese has melted.
